Avoriaz 1800 is the only resort in Europe that is entirely pedestrianised and skiable, meaning that its streets are as snow-covered as ski slopes. Here you can leave the pavements behind and enjoy a holiday with both feet in the snow. In the snow-covered streets, skiers rub shoulders with pedestrians and horse-drawn sleighs. A paradise for children and a unique and magical atmosphere away from the everyday.

Our advice
Leave your coats, hats and gloves accessible so that you can dress warmly when you arrive.
Forget the pumps and smooth-soled leather shoes, which are perfect for trying out new figure skating tricks but impractical for walking in the snow. Instead, wear après-skis with crampons or shoes suitable for walking in the snow.
Suitcases on wheels roll, yes, but not easily in the snow. If you can, opt for rucksacks or travel bags. It's important that your bags are compact and closed, and that your ski equipment is in covers.
Pushchairs don't roll in the snow either, so you should know that pushchair sledges are available for hire in most of our ski shops. They'll make life easier for you and your little ones.
Avoriaz 1800 is divided into neighbourhoods, so to make things easier when you arrive, find out the name of your residence and the neighbourhood it's in, and don't hesitate to consult the resort map.
Avoriaz is a pedestrian and car-free resort, where you can get around on skis, toboggans or on foot, but also by sleigh or snowcat.
20 coachmen and their 100 horses provide a taxi service during the day, and transport chenillettes reinforce this service on arrival days and take over at nightfall. Each coachman has his own carriage and rotates with his horses every 2 hours, putting the welfare of his animal first. The breeds of horse are chosen for their robustness and their taste for work.
The Avoriaz 1800 internal transport service does not take bookings; simply order your transport when it is ready outside.
