The certifying agent looks for products containing asbestos, according to a list defined by the legislation in force, in buildings for which planning permission was issued before 1st July 1997.
The certifying agent proceeds with systematic marking of any suspect materials and takes samples as required for establishment of the asbestos diagnosis report, which must include the results of analyses carried out by an officially approved laboratory.

Depuis le 1er septembre 2002, pour exonérer le vendeur de la garantie des vices cachés, un constat de présence ou d'absence d'amiante doit être joint obligatoirement à tout acte de vente d'un immeuble bâti.
